Best advice for small-business owners: Before making significant business decisions, consult your CPA/business adviser. It is best to know all the costs/benefits of the transaction before it occurs rather than to find out the consequences after.

Biggest mistake that you see business owners make: Not seeking professional advice.  There are so many nuances in the tax law that a small-business owner can easily make a decision without realizing that the decision may cost them serious money.
