Your Mindset and The Future
by Jonathan Jones
There is a lot of pressure on leaders these days, and uncertainty is a massive part of it. What helps organizations overcome these challenges often depends on the mindset of the leader. A positive mindset assumes that you not only are going to find a way to resolve negative obstacles, but you also are going to thrive. Tragedy can inspire people to make a positive impact in the future.
Successful leaders have a way of looking at challenging moments and seeing the opportunity, while others do not. This optimistic mindset sees possibilities that “turn lemons into lemonade.”
Uncertainty creates doubt. Doubt creates fear. Fear leads to inaction. A positive mindset helps a leader sort through all the clutter and find clarity. With clarity, the leader can summon up the courage to lead and take action. That includes communicating a clear vision and inspiring others to follow. With clarity, a leader can better inspire desired actions, which should generate desired results.
2020 was a challenging year, and now is the time to look forward to 2021. What is your mindset for 2021? What is the mindset of your team(s)?
Reflect on the past year, and let go of what did not work, and build on what did work. What clarity did you discover in 2020? Did you take action on all of your opportunities? What were your successes? As you look at your accomplishments, do you see more untapped opportunities where you can build on that momentum? What about the successes and opportunities of your team?
There is always opportunity out there. Someone always finds it. Success begins with making sure you have the right mindset and sharing that mindset with the people around you. Make 2021 a great year!
