Post A Job For Free On LinkedIn
By Kathy Bernard
LinkedIn can be an excellent platform for posting open positions for your organization—it has more than 200 million business- or job-focused members in the United States alone. The problem is that posting jobs on LinkedIn can be expensive, especially if you are seeking applicants in a competitive field, like Java developers. Companies can bid more to place their jobs higher than yours. Plus, learning how to run job ads can be confusing.
Fortunately, LinkedIn lets you post one free job at a time for 21 days to help you learn the ropes. To post a free job ad, click the Jobs icon at the top of your LinkedIn home page, then click “Post a free job.” Next, select “Start job post” to fill out the simple form about your job opening; then select “Get started for free.”
When the “Promote your job” page pops up, you can add a budget and payment preference to your job post to attract more applicants, or you can simply opt to “Choose to post for free.” Even if you elect not to promote your posting, your job post will appear in LinkedIn Jobs search results, but you won’t benefit from additional paid features, such as applicant management tools, higher ad placement, instant mobile alerts to qualified candidates, or smart alerts to you when strong candidates apply.
Despite these limitations, running a free job posting on LinkedIn Jobs is well worth the effort to reach top talent for your open positions. Give it a whirl!
