The Top 10 Productivity Hacks For Every Person In Every Office

According to Nick Smarrelli, COO of GadellNet, a comprehensive technology consulting company

Whether your office has two employees or 200, here are the top 10 essential tricks, shortcuts, skills and methods every business needs to maximize productivity.

Everyone should own a laptop. Period. Desktop computers don’t make sense anymore.  Statistically speaking, effective laptop implementations can add 35 hours of productive time per month for the average user.

Dock laptops at the office and use at least two – we recommend three – monitors. Increasing the amount of work that can be done with a minimal cost of a second or third monitor is an easy way to amp up productivity.

Standardize laptop hardware and software. There are at least five versions of Microsoft Office, none of which talk particularly well with each other. Consider MS Office 365 to drive consistency.

Integrate core business applications. Application integration allows data to be applied to one application, like QuickBooks, and automatically populate to other applications, like customer relationship management, content management and marketing automation systems.

Invest in chairs. Desks are pretty, but investments made in quality chairs result in happy employees who are comfortable and productive working at a desk all day.

Require everyone to increase typing skills. Imagine the effectiveness of an organization where everyone, including executives, can type 70 words per minute. It’s a simple thing that results in huge gains in productivity.

Maximize the way applications are used. Most small businesses use 20 to 25% of the capabilities of Microsoft Office. There are a variety of tips and tricks that can save a ton of time. Investigate how to use Microsoft Office more efficiently because it’s one of the largest and most pervasive applications in the office.

Engage employees with technology software. Create and standardize a productive corporate culture that motivates and inspires employees. Employee satisfaction has a profound effect on the productivity of an organization.

Outsource to experts. Outsourcing done right will increase return on investment and business productivity.
